Commanders sign Savage to bolster struggling secondary
John Keim, a reporter for ESPN, covers the Washington Commanders and has been with the network since 2013. He started covering the team in 1994 and has authored/co-authored four books. The Commanders are signing veteran safety Darnell Savage to help their banged-up secondary, following injuries to Will Harris and Percy Butler. Savage was released by the Jaguars after five seasons with the Packers, where he started 69 games. Savage’s release was due to changes in coaching staff and front office. Washington’s defensive pass game coordinator Jason Simmons was an assistant coach during Savage’s time with the Packers.
