Insider reveals expected location for Super Bowl LX

The NFL is reportedly set to award Super Bowl LX to the San Francisco 49ers at next week’s owners meetings, according to a report from Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal.

The game will be played in February 2026, and will be the second time Levi’s Stadium has hosted a Super Bowl.

It previously hosted Super Bowl L in February 2016 between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Denver won that game by a 24-10 margin with linebacker Von Miller taking MVP honors.

The next two Super Bowls have already been awarded, with Las Vegas hosting this year’s game in February 2024, while New Orleans will host next season’s game.

Given how good the 49ers and how young a significant portion of their core is, it is not out of the question that they could end up playing that game in their home stadium. San Francisco has been one of the top teams in the NFL for the past four years, reaching the NFC title game in three of those seasons. That includes each of the past two years.

Several potential Super Bowl destinations for the 2026 game were thought to back out given World Cup commitments for that year. Rams COO Kevin Demoff recently said the team plans to bid on the 2027 Super Bowl to give SoFi Stadium the chance to host the World Cup (2026), Super Bowl (2027) and Summer Olympics (2028) in three consecutive years.

Levi’s Stadium was never thought to be a contender for multiple Super Bowls, but the presence of the World Cup in the United States in 2026 kept the door open. The NFL appears ready to walk through that door.
