The Bolts start making cuts by releasing veteran LB Kendricks
The Los Angeles Chargers released linebacker Eric Kendricks, saving $6.5 million in cap space but incurring a $2.5 million dead money charge. Kendricks signed a two-year contract last year and was due a roster bonus. With Kendricks gone, Daiyan Henley and Nick Niemann are the only inside linebackers on the roster, as Kenneth Murray Jr. is a free agent. The team is now $19 million over the salary cap. Coach Jim Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz are looking to make more roster moves to become salary cap compliant, with key decisions looming on high-priced players like Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
