Ertz agrees to contract with Washington Commanders
Veteran tight end Zach Ertz has signed a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders, reuniting him with his former coach Kliff Kingsbury. The Commanders released Logan Thomas last week, creating a need for Ertz. Ertz had signed with the Detroit Lions’ practice squad before the NFC Championship Game but was not activated for the game. He was released by the Arizona Cardinals in November after being acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021. Ertz, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has recorded 709 catches for 7,434 yards and 46 touchdowns in his 11-year career. The news of Ertz’s deal with Washington was first reported by NFL Network.
