Paramount lays off 800 employees following record-breaking Super Bowl broadcast
The owner of CBS, Paramount Global, is laying off 800 employees, approximately 3% of its global workforce, just after airing the most-watched TV program in history, Super Bowl LVIII. The company’s chief executive Bob Bakish announced the move, expressing gratitude for the dedication of the employees being let go and emphasizing that these changes are necessary for the company’s future. Paramount Global owns Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and other networks and streaming platforms. The company had about 24,500 full-time and part-time employees across 37 countries and 5,800 project-based staff at the end of 2022.
