Former No. 2 overall pick cut by Steelers after two seasons

Steelers release former No. 2 overall pick after two seasons

After Super Bowl LVIII, the Steelers released three players, including quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who had a 2-5 record as a starter with the team. Trubisky previously played four seasons with the Bears and spent the 2021 season as a backup. The release of Trubisky was not surprising given the Steelers’ plans for next season. Trubisky’s future in the NFL might be as a project for an offensive guru, or he could find a role in the spring football league. Meanwhile, the Steelers are looking at other options for the quarterback position for the upcoming season.
