Commanders Trade Star Player to Bears in Major Acquisition
The Chicago Bears have acquired Montez Sweat in a trade with the Washington Commanders. Washington will receive a 2024 second-round pick in the deal. The Bears, despite their 2-6 record, see Sweat as part of their rebuilding plan and plan to sign him to an extension using their projected $100 million plus in salary cap space for 2024. Sweat, a first-round pick in 2019, has been performing well this season with 32 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles through eight games.
