Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Hit with Another Fine Over Cleats
Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears quarterback, was fined $23,882 for wearing unauthorized Caddix cleats in Week 7, doubling his previous fine of $11,941 for the same infraction. The NFL restricts partnerships to Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, necessitating that non-partner logos be covered. Williams, who emphasized the injury-prevention benefits of Caddix’s patented “SmartStuds” technology, plans to continue wearing them without covering the logo. He is appealing his initial fine, and Caddix has stated they will cover any penalties incurred. Williams praised the cleats for comfort and their focus on player health amidst the rigors of football.
