Lions’ Dan Campbell Plays Down Sam LaPorta’s Remarks on Contract
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is addressing distractions following the bye week, particularly comments from star tight end Sam LaPorta about feeling undervalued in contract negotiations. LaPorta expressed frustration on a podcast, indicating he might consider playing elsewhere if an extension isn’t reached. He later clarified that he wants to remain with the Lions, emphasizing his commitment and emotional investment. Despite the outside perception of distraction, Campbell and new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing noted LaPorta’s strong focus on playing well. LaPorta, recovering from back surgery, has performed effectively this season, contributing significantly to the team’s offense.
