Panel rules against NFLPA, says not enough proof of collusion

Panel Rules in Favor of NFL, Determines Insufficient Evidence of Collusion by NFLPA

On April 11, 2026, a three-person appeals panel upheld an arbitrator’s ruling that there was insufficient evidence of collusion among NFL teams in the 2022 contract negotiations of quarterbacks Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and Russell Wilson. While the panel noted that teams were “invited” to collude inappropriately, it found no proof of actual collusion. This decision reaffirmed a January 2025 ruling by arbitrator Christopher Droney. The NFL Players Association had contended that team owners violated the collective bargaining agreement, especially following Deshaun Watson’s record $230 million fully guaranteed contract. The NFL and NFLPA had a confidentiality agreement regarding the outcome.
