Jones being placed on IR deals blow to Broncos defense
Jeff Legwold, a long-time reporter for ESPN covering the Denver Broncos, reported that safety Brandon Jones has been placed on injured reserve with a pectoral injury. Jones, the team’s third-leading tackler, played 93% of defensive snaps this season. His absence is a significant loss for the Broncos’ defense, already missing cornerback Pat Surtain II due to a similar injury earlier in the season. P.J. Locke replaced Jones during Sunday’s game and performed well. It is uncertain if Jones will need surgery, but he will miss the remaining regular-season games and possibly a playoff game. Despite the injuries, the Broncos lead the NFL in sacks and man coverage snaps.
