“Smyth to Make Home NFL Debut with Quick Response”
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced that kicker Charlie Smith will make his home NFL debut against the Carolina Panthers after performing well in his first two games. Despite mixed results, including missing a field goal but also tying the game with another kick, Moore believes Smith has shown potential for growth. Smith earned his opportunity after the regular kicker was waived, and he will face competition from another player for a spot on the team. Smith, a former Gaelic footballer from Ireland, is only the third placekicker from the island to play in an NFL game, following in the footsteps of Neil O’Donoghue and Jude McAtamney.
