Kyle Dugger trade: Steelers hope to boost defense with longtime Patriots starter

Steelers aiming to bolster defense by acquiring former Patriots standout Kyle Dugger

The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired safety Kyle Dugger from the New England Patriots in a trade, sending a sixth-round pick in exchange. To make room for Dugger, the Steelers placed safety DeShon Elliott on injured reserve. Dugger, who had fallen out of favor in New England, has started 69 games for the Patriots. The Steelers hope Dugger can improve their struggling secondary, which allowed 688 passing yards and six touchdowns in their last two games. They also signed veteran safety Darrick Forrest to their practice squad. The Steelers will face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 to try to end their two-game losing streak.
