Shoppers crowded markets for flowers, lanterns, and candles. Ayodhya saw elaborate celebrations with 2.6 million lamps lit on the Saryu River, retaining a Guinness World Record. In New Delhi, concerns over air pollution from firecrackers were raised. The level of particulates surged, but the court allowed limited use of “green firecrackers” emitting fewer pollutants.
