Rudi Johnson, Former Pro Bowl Running Back, Passes Away at Age 45
Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Rudi Johnson has passed away at the age of 45. While the specific cause of death was not given, a source close to Johnson’s family revealed that he had been struggling with mental health issues. Johnson, a Virginia native, was drafted by the Bengals in 2001 after playing for Butler Community College and Auburn. He set impressive franchise records with the Bengals, including three seasons with over 1,300 rushing yards from 2004 to 2006. Johnson also made the Pro Bowl in 2004 and holds the record for the most rushing yards in a single season in Bengals franchise history. He played his last NFL season in 2008 with the Detroit Lions.
