Savage, amid playing time decrease, cut by Jags

Jaguars cut Savage due to decreased playing time

The Jacksonville Jaguars released safety Darnell Savage one year into his three-year contract. Savage’s playing time had decreased due to the signing of Eric Murray and the emergence of Andrew Wingard. The move will cost the Jaguars $4.05 million in dead money. Savage had started 13 games in the previous season and had 1 interception, 6 pass breakups, and 51 tackles. He is the eighth notable player brought in by the previous general manager but then cut or traded by the new regime. Other players cut or traded include Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, Evan Engram, Luke Fortner, Jordan Jefferson, Tyler Lacy, and Tank Bigsby.
