The Baltimore Ravens’ kicking competition is over…for now

The kicking competition for the Baltimore Ravens has come to a temporary halt

Undrafted rookie kicker John Hoyland has been waived by the Baltimore Ravens, leaving sixth-round pick Tyler Loop as the only kicker on the roster. Despite Hoyland performing well during camp, the decision was made due to roster needs. Head Coach John Harbaugh expressed that Loop will still need to perform in preseason games to secure the job. While it seems the competition is over, Harbaugh mentioned the possibility of bringing Hoyland back or adding a veteran kicker if Loop struggles. Loop will have the opportunity to solidify his spot on the roster during upcoming preseason games, starting with a stadium practice on August 3rd.
