SB LIX performer arrested for halftime protest

Performer at Super Bowl LIX arrested for staging protest during halftime show

Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a performer at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show, was arrested by the Louisiana State Police for holding up a Sudanese flag with the message “Sudan and Free Gaza.” Nantambu was charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace. While he had permission to be on the field during the performance, he did not have permission to demonstrate as he did. The NFL commended the state police for their actions, and banned Nantambu from attending any NFL games or events. Nantambu was also involved in a separate incident in May where he was shot at a celebrity boxing event.
