Former college basketball player signs with Panthers to pursue NFL tight end position
The Carolina Panthers have signed rookie center Colin Granger, who will attempt to transition to the tight end position. At 6-feet-9 and 235 pounds, Granger is the tallest player on the team’s roster. In his most recent season at Coastal Carolina, he shot 57.9% from the field and averaged 7.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Granger previously played college basketball at Ohio University, Western Carolina, and Coastal Carolina. He joins a tight end room that includes other talented players. The move from basketball to football is not uncommon, with former players like Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez finding success as tight ends.
