A player previously targeted by the Cowboys is now joining the Detroit Lions.
The Dallas Cowboys coaching staff for 2025, led by Brian Schottenheimer, is focusing on the run game. Former Cowboys running back Tashard Choice interviewed for the running backs coaching job, which went to Derrick Foster. Choice decided to return to the University of Texas, but later changed his mind and joined the Detroit Lions staff. The Cowboys reportedly did not offer Choice the salary he wanted, while the Lions were willing to pay more. Choice had coached Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs at Georgia Tech. The Cowboys, as the most valuable sports franchise, could have afforded Choice’s salary, but chose not to.
