Google modifies Super Bowl advertisement showcasing inaccurate information for artificial intelligence (AI)

Google has edited an ad for its AI tool Gemini after it was found to contain false information about gouda cheese. The ad showcased how Gemini helped a cheesemonger write a product description, claiming gouda accounted for 50-60% of global cheese consumption. However, a blogger revealed the stat was false, and Google admitted the error was due to information scraped from unreliable websites. The ad was remade to remove the error. Google’s AI tools have previously faced criticism for errors and unhelpful advice. Gemini was also criticized for generating inaccurate images of historical figures and inaccurate chatbot responses.
