Report: Patriots make significant progress in hiring Mike Vrabel as new head coach
The Patriots have fired former linebacker Jerod Mayo as head coach and are reportedly close to replacing him with former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Contract talks with Vrabel are already underway, with many sources indicating he is the heavy favorite for the job. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is also under consideration but Vrabel appears to be the front runner. Vrabel had a successful first stint as head coach with the Titans, making three consecutive playoff appearances.
