Cowboys reject request from Bears’ McCarthy
The Dallas Cowboys have denied the Chicago Bears permission to interview coach Mike McCarthy for their head coaching vacancy. The Bears will interview Pete Carroll and other candidates as they search for a new head coach. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said McCarthy wants to return to Dallas, where he has a 49-35 regular-season record but only a 1-3 playoff record. Jones and McCarthy will meet to discuss the future of the franchise. McCarthy, who has 174 wins in NFL history, previously coached the Green Bay Packers, winning six NFC North titles and a Super Bowl. The Bears are exploring all options in their coaching search.
