Texans RB Joe Mixon won’t play against Vikings because of ankle injury

Texans Running Back Joe Mixon Sidelined with Ankle Injury, Will Miss Game Against Vikings

The Houston Texans will be without running back Joe Mixon and backup running back Dameon Pierce for their game against the Minnesota Vikings due to injuries. Mixon injured his ankle during last week’s game and did not practice all week, while Pierce continues to deal with a hamstring injury. Cam Akers will start in their absence. Offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson will also miss the game due to a calf injury. Mixon had a great debut with the Texans in Week 1, rushing for 159 yards and a touchdown, earning AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Akers, who previously played for the Vikings, had seven carries for 32 yards in last week’s game.
