Report: 49ers’ McCaffrey Expected to be Sidelined for Six Weeks or Longer
The San Francisco 49ers’ star running back Christian McCaffrey has been placed on injured reserve with painful Achilles tendinitis. Although initially expected to be out for four weeks, reports suggest he could be sidelined for at least six weeks or more. This means Jordan Mason will step in as the starter in McCaffrey’s absence. If McCaffrey misses six weeks, he could potentially return in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. The 49ers, who have two crucial games ahead, would prefer to have the reigning Offensive Player of the Year back on the field. The team has a bye in Week 9, providing McCaffrey with extra rest before the Week 10 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
