New England Patriots Cut Newly Acquired Defensive Tackle
Veteran defensive tackle Mike Purcell, who recently signed with the New England Patriots, was released by the team after only three weeks. Purcell began his career as an undrafted free agent with the 49ers and eventually landed with the Broncos, starting 37 games in two years. His short stint with the Patriots was meant to fill in for Christian Barmore, but he was ultimately cut from the roster. At 32 years old, Purcell will now be back on the free agent market, potentially running out of opportunities to remain in the NFL. New England may look to test younger players for depth at the position.
