49ers right guard Spencer Burford broke his right hand and may need surgery. Coach Kyle Shanahan estimates he will be out for around three weeks. Burford, entering his third season, was taking first-team snaps. Rookie Dominick Puni will now get more reps, with Jon Feliciano still sidelined. Shanahan praised Puni for his performance so far, especially in protection. Although they haven’t had pads on yet, Shanahan is excited about Puni’s potential.
