Former All-Pro running back retires after eight seasons in the NFL, including a 20-touchdown season in 2016

David Johnson, a former NFL running back who played for the Arizona Cardinals, announced his retirement at the age of 32. Despite starting with little fanfare out of high school, Johnson had a successful college career at Northern Iowa before being drafted by the Cardinals in 2015. He had a standout rookie season and was named an All-Pro in 2016. Injuries began to impact his performance in subsequent seasons, and he was eventually traded to the Houston Texans in 2020. He ended his career with the New Orleans Saints in 2022, leaving a legacy of philanthropy through his foundation that supports seriously ill children and families.
