Former Bears player Buster Skrine evades Canadian police in on-the-run situation
Former Bears cornerback Buster Skrine is on the run from Canadian police after missing a court date related to fraud charges. Skrine, 35, was arrested in August 2023 for defrauding multiple Canadian banks of $100,000 by opening accounts with fake checks. He had been out on bail since April 2024 but his GPS ankle monitor is now inactive. Police believe Skrine targeted numerous financial institutions by posing as a retired NFL player. Skrine played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Browns, Jets, Bears, Titans, and 49ers. He has earned over $40 million in career earnings. Authorities are now seeking additional charges against him.
