Mike Kolen, a key member of the Miami Dolphins’ championship teams in the early 1970s, passed away at the age of 76. Known as “Captain Crunch” for his tackling ability, Kolen went from a 12th-round pick to a starting linebacker on the Dolphins’ historic defense. He played in three consecutive Super Bowls, contributing to the team’s success. Prior to his NFL career, Kolen had a successful college career at Auburn and was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Despite being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s later in life, Kolen expressed gratitude for his time playing football and the values it instilled in him.
