Cowboys come up short in former first-round quarterback trade frenzy
Over the last eight months, four teams have traded away former first-round quarterbacks for late-round draft picks. The Dallas Cowboys were the first team to do so, acquiring Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers in August. Three more quarterbacks have been traded since then, with the price decreasing each time. Teams may be looking for quality backups or potential future starters. Justin Fields and Mac Jones were traded for a sixth-round pick, making them the cheapest acquisitions. The Steelers may have made the best deal, while the Cowboys are seen as the biggest losers due to the high cost of acquiring Lance.
