Sources: Dallas reworks Dak deal, eases cap hit

Dallas Amends Dak Deal to Reduce Salary Cap Implications

The Dallas Cowboys are restructuring quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract to reduce his salary cap hit for the 2024 season. A $5 million roster bonus has been converted into a signing bonus, lowering his cap hit by $4 million to just over $55 million. The team is also working on a contract extension for Prescott, who is coming off a playoff loss. Owner Jerry Jones has expressed the desire to keep Prescott long-term, which would also facilitate deals for other key players like CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons. The team has made minimal moves in free agency, adding linebacker Eric Kendricks while releasing Leighton Vander Esch due to injury.
