Cowboys reportedly planning to release WR Michael Gallup
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has given permission for wide receiver Michael Gallup to seek a trade. This decision is likely due to Gallup’s contract, with $4 million of his $8.5 million salary guaranteed if he remains on the roster after March 16th. Since signing a five-year, $57.5 million contract in 2021, Gallup has not returned to his 2019 form, with 73 receptions, 842 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. Teams are hesitant to trade for Gallup, expecting him to be released. The Cowboys could save money towards the salary cap by designating Gallup as a post-June 1 release. This move could potentially allow for an extension for franchise quarterback Dak Prescott.
