Former Chargers head coach joins 49ers coaching staff
The San Francisco 49ers have chosen to promote Nick Sorensen to defensive coordinator, while bringing in former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley for another crucial role on their staff. Staley’s exact position is not yet confirmed, but he may be named assistant head coach. Sorensen joined the 49ers in 2022 and had previously worked with the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars. Staley, who was fired by the Chargers in December, has interviewed for other defensive coordinator positions earlier this offseason. The 49ers have decided to keep key roles in-house while adding new talent to their coaching staff.
