Steelers legend and two-time Super Bowl champion Andy Russell passes away at 82

Andy Russell, a key player on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 1970s dynasty, passed away at 82. A seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker and team captain for a record 10 consecutive years, he is considered one of the greatest Steelers not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Russell helped mentor future Hall of Fame linebackers Jack Ham and Jack Lambert and was part of the Steelers’ first Hall of Honor class in 2017. He played a pivotal role in the Steelers’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1974 and 1975 and was known for his leadership and contribution to the team’s success during their dynasty years.
