Jets plan to release Laken Tomlinson
The Jets are releasing offensive guard Laken Tomlinson to save $8 million in salary cap space. Tomlinson, 32, signed a three-year, $40 million deal in the 2022 offseason but did not meet expectations. He started all 34 games over two seasons with the team. After being a first-round pick by the Lions in 2015 and playing two seasons in Detroit, he found success with the 49ers, becoming a Pro Bowler in 2021. The move leaves the Jets needing to find three starting offensive linemen. This decision opens up $24.7 million in salary cap room for the team.
