Steelers keep Mike Sullivan on staff as senior offensive assistant

Mike Sullivan retained by Steelers as senior offensive assistant

Mike Sullivan is no longer the quarterbacks coach or play caller for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but will remain on the coaching staff as a senior offensive assistant. After the season, head coach Mike Tomlin announced they would be hiring a new offensive coordinator from outside the franchise, leading to Sullivan’s job change. Arthur Smith and Tom Arth were brought in as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, respectively. Sullivan will now be assisting on offense and the team will focus on developing an offensive identity after a disappointing 2023 season. There is internal debate about who will be the starting quarterback, with betting odds favoring Russell Wilson. Sullivan will not be the new quarterback’s position coach.
