Former Ole Miss player, now in the NFL, Powe will not face indictment
Former NFL player Jerrell Powe has been cleared of a 2023 kidnapping charge by a Mississippi grand jury, according to his attorney Tom Fortner. The decision came after Powe was arrested at a bank in Ridgeland along with another person, following a man’s allegation that he had been taken against his will in Laurel. Powe played as defensive tackle for the University of Mississippi and was later selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2011 NFL draft. He played for the Chiefs and the Houston Texans, recording tackles and sacks in his games. The grand jury’s decision means Powe will not face trial for the kidnapping charge.
