Bears release veteran S Jackson, G Whitehair

Veteran S Jackson and G Whitehair released by Bears

ESPN staff writer Courtney Cronin reports that the Chicago Bears have released veteran safety Eddie Jackson and guard Cody Whitehair, saving an estimated $21.5 million against the 2024 salary cap. Whitehair, a second-round pick in 2016, played in 124 games over eight seasons with the Bears. Jackson, a fourth-round pick in 2017, started all 100 games he appeared in over seven seasons and had 15 interceptions, 44 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles, and 459 tackles in his career. Both players were long-tenured members of the team. The moves mean that the Bears no longer have any draft picks made before 2020 on their roster.
