Steelers cut former No. 2 pick QB Mitch Trubisky after two seasons

Mitch Trubisky, former No. 2 pick QB, released by Steelers after two seasons

The Pittsburgh Steelers cut quarterback Mitch Trubisky, offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor, and punter Pressley Harvin III, freeing up $11.5 million in salary cap space. Trubisky, signed in March 2022, struggled as a starter and was benched in favor of rookie Kenny Pickett. Okorafor was benched in favor of rookie Broderick Jones and was released after Pittsburgh selected Jones in the 2023 draft. Harvin, a seventh-round pick in 2021, struggled with consistency and was not brought back for the final year of his contract. The Steelers are now looking for a new punter and may bring back quarterback Mason Rudolph to compete with Pickett.
