Sources: Grubb reneges on Tide to be Seattle OC

Grubb Backs Out of Seattle OC Position, Sources Say

The Seattle Seahawks have hired Ryan Grubb, former University of Washington offensive coordinator, for the same position on new coach Mike Macdonald’s staff. Grubb was set to be Alabama’s offensive coordinator, but instead returns to Seattle for his first NFL job. He is expected to bring Alabama offensive line coach Scott Huff with him to the Seahawks. Grubb’s connection with Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has fueled speculation about Seattle drafting Penix. The Seahawks also interviewed other candidates for their offensive coordinator vacancy. Macdonald said that NFL playcalling experience wasn’t a prerequisite for the new offensive coordinator. Grubb replaces Shane Waldron, who was hired by the Chicago Bears.
