Sources: Idzik to be Panthers OC, won’t call plays

Idzik Set to Join Panthers as Offensive Coordinator, Not Expected to Make Play Calls

David Newton is an NFL reporter for ESPN and covers the Carolina Panthers. The new Panthers head coach, Dave Canales, will be hiring Brad Idzik as his offensive coordinator, though Canales will be calling the plays himself. Canales had a successful 2023 season as an offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, helping quarterback Baker Mayfield improve significantly. Idzik, known for developing receivers, has ties to Carolina as a former wide receiver for Wake Forest. The Panthers offense finished last in the NFL in yards per game and scoring, and their defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero, may also remain with the team depending on his status with the Seattle Seahawks.
