Chargers bring on Ravens executive Hortiz as new GM
The Chargers have hired Joe Hortiz from the Baltimore Ravens as their new general manager. Hortiz has been with the Ravens for 26 years and will work alongside new coach Jim Harbaugh. There are questions about the relationship between Harbaugh and Hortiz, and who will have the final say in personnel decisions. Hortiz is known for his talent evaluation, and the Chargers hope he and Harbaugh can turn the team around after a disappointing 5-12 season. They will also need to address the team’s projected $54.2 million over the salary cap next season. Former general manager Tom Telesco was fired and has since been hired by the Las Vegas Raiders.
