‘0-16 Lions members, long-suffering fans and Super Bowl dreams: The deserving’
Eric Woodyard is a Detroit Lions reporter for ESPN, joining in September 2019. He became an NBA reporter dedicated to the Midwest region before moving to his current role in April 2021. He’s a graduate of Western Michigan University and has written three books. The 2008 Detroit Lions season is infamous, setting records for most losses, points allowed, and touchdowns allowed. The team was eliminated from playoff contention in Week 11. Dan Campbell, tight end for the 2008 team, now coaches the Lions, taking them from a 3-13-1 record in Year 1 to a win away from the Super Bowl. Former members of the 2008 team recognize Campbell’s leadership and are proud of the team’s success.
