Sports World Commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. on MLK Day 2024
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is being celebrated across the US with numerous events commemorating his legacy. The NBA has 11 games scheduled for MLK Day, with special traditions in Atlanta and Memphis in honor of King. The NFL announced a five-year commitment to Realizing The Dream, in partnership with the King family. The Columbus Blue Jackets will host an event celebrating diversity and inclusion in hockey. College basketball is also honoring MLK Day with games and events, including the Atlantic 10 Conference’s third-annual MLK Day triple-header and the HBCU MLK Day Invitational featuring four games between HBCUs.
