Vrabel Fired by Titans, Opted Against Trading Coach
The Tennessee Titans fired coach Mike Vrabel after two losing seasons. The team’s owner, Amy Adams Strunk, considered trading Vrabel but couldn’t do so without his consent. Strunk stated that league rules prevented trading Vrabel without his approval and she didn’t want to risk missing out on their desired replacement coach. The Titans have struggled in the last two seasons, finishing below .500 both times. General Manager Ran Carthon emphasized that the team will prioritize finding a head coach who shares their vision and is willing to work with quarterback Will Levis, but they will also take into account the rest of the team’s needs. Derrick Henry expressed shock at Vrabel’s firing, while Carthon confirmed that the possibility of re-signing Henry is still open. Vrabel had a 54-45 record with the Titans, leading them to back-to-back AFC South championships and a No. 1 seed in the AFC.
