Montez Sweat to Sign Multi-Year Extension with Bears
Montez Sweat, the edge rusher who was acquired by the Chicago Bears at the trade deadline, has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $98 million in new money. The deal, totaling $105 million, includes close to $73 million in guaranteed money. Despite not having any Pro Bowl appearances or All-Pro nods, Sweat has shown promise this season with 6.5 sacks and a top-three grade for run defense. The Bears traded a second-round pick for Sweat and were prepared to use the franchise tag on him if necessary. With this extension, the Bears hope Sweat will lead their struggling pass-rushing unit.
