Major question remains as Steelers leave NFL trade deadline
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a strong push to acquire cornerback Jaylon Johnson from the Chicago Bears before the NFL trade deadline, but they were unwilling to meet the demands for the former second-round pick. The Steelers have been linked to Johnson due to struggles from veteran cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace. The team named rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr. as the starter over Wallace, but Peterson has also been consistently targeted. The addition of Johnson would have addressed the cornerback issues, but now the Steelers have to decide which struggling corner will play alongside Porter Jr. The blame for the team’s struggles also extends to their defense, which is one of the highest paid units in the league. Johnson may still join the Steelers in the offseason as a free agent.
