Broncos safety Kareem Jackson has suspension cut in half, teammates come to his defense

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson’s suspension reduced by half, supported by teammates

Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson’s four-game suspension for illegal hits has been reduced to two games on appeal. The suspension was cut in half by hearing officer Derrick Brooks after Jackson made his appeal. Under the collective bargaining agreement, Brooks and James Thrash are the two hearing officers appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association to rule on appeals of on-field discipline. Jackson will miss a home game against Kansas City and a game at Buffalo, but will be eligible to return to the team on November 14. He will forfeit about $279,000 in salary as a result of the reduced suspension. Jackson was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ejected for a high hit in a recent game against the Green Bay Packers. This was his second ejection of the season. Despite the reduced suspension, some of Jackson’s teammates feel that the NFL is unfairly targeting him for his hard-hitting style of play.
