Josh McDaniels stands firm on starting Brian Hoyer over Aidan O’Connell, no room for doubts
With Jimmy Garoppolo injured, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels started Brian Hoyer over rookie Aidan O’Connell in their game against the Bears. Hoyer struggled, throwing for 129 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by O’Connell in the fourth quarter. O’Connell had a touchdown and an interception in his limited playing time. McDaniels defended his decision, saying he saw Hoyer’s performance in practice and wanted to go with the veteran. McDaniels acknowledged that the team had missed opportunities and said there were other areas that needed improvement. The Raiders, now 3-4, will face the Lions next Monday.
